Telefonica and America Movil are on the list of the largest telecommunications market, according to London consultancy Wireless Intelligence.

Wireless Intelligence reporting that the 25 largest mobile operators in the world occupy 64% of the global representation of all mobile lines.
The research, conducted according to data provided during the first quarter of this year, said the 20 largest companies account for 58% of mobile connections, which added 2 million 400 thousand lines distributed in 118 markets.
These are the top five players in the market:

Firstly, the larger China Mobile, with 11.5% of the world lines, operating in just two markets, China and Hong Kong.

Secondly, Vodafone, who expanded their operations to Ghana and India, besides being the leader in 10 countries in Europe, and now has 247 million connections in 19 markets.
Third place: The Spanish Telefónica.

Fourth, America Movil, Carlos Slim company. Telefónica is a total of 20 market with 190 million connections, while America Movil are involved in 17 markets, with 175 million lines.
Fifthly, China Unicom, with 127 million lines.

The report by Wireless Intelligence also reported that only 20% of all global mobile connections are for next generation networks (3G and above), since most are located in countries that do not yet have deployed such networks.
